Movie Review
In this insane film Prisoners of the Ghostland Fellini meets Fury Road via Brazil, and it is far more spectacular in idea than execution. The Governor and Napoleon displayed an uncanny resemblance in Prisoners of the Ghostland.
A location, apparently but not necessarily on Earth, during a period, presumably but not necessarily in the future: A structure, apparently a bank at first, but soon unmistakably a bank, is teeming with cheerful clients dressed in rainbow-colored costumes. There's also a cute little child obtaining a large cup of jellybeans from a gumball machine. Suddenly, two highly armed crooks, played by Nicolas Cage and Nick Cassavetes, break through the door.
Advance the clock by an arbitrary length of time. Samurai Town is the location of the bank. Bernice (Sofia Boutella) and two other women escape away from Sweet Peach Street. Where they are assumed to be slaves or prostitutes.
Another undetermined length of time passes, most likely less than the previous indeterminate amount of time. In his white Boss Hogg suit, the Governor (Bill Moseley) commands this town. Bernice was the Governor's favourite sex slave, so he hires Cage Man to track her down.
The Government's current logic for assigning a highly vital assignment to a psychopath is as unclear as anything else in this weird scenario. But I assume Cage Man is incredibly strong and ain't afraid of anything. You'd think the Government's personal yojimbo, a mega-skilled samurai named Yasujiro (Tak Sakaguchi), would track down Bernice, but no. He needs someone he can stuff in a leather bodysuit lined with explosive charges that will blow off a man's balls — or "testicules," as the Gov pronounces them — if he doesn't stay on task. And Cage Man is just the man to keep going under such duress.
So Cage Man sets forth into the post-nuclear wasteland outside Samurai Town, his yarbles' future entirely hinged on his success.
