Escape the Undertaker, the idea of this special, a rare cooperation between Netflix and WWE, is straightforward—if a little ridiculous. The Undertaker in Escape the Undertaker, is a maestro of the macabre, gets most of his power from an urn kept secret in his haunted castle. The New Day, a three-man tag team representing a new generation in the sport, wants that power. So they're breaking into the Taker's lair to get it. You direct the three as they try to escape with the urn and their souls using Netflix's interactive technology.
Netflix has dabbled in user-guided choose-your-own-adventure experiences previously, from Unbroken Kimmy Schmidt: Kimmy vs. The Reverend to Black Mirror:Bandersnatch, but this will remind you of a World Wrestling Entertainment promo more than anything, since that's all it is.
The ostensible centrepiece of the programme is the Undertaker, who largely looms as an off-screen presence, but what pleasure this special does give comes from the cheerful performances of Big E, Kofi Kingston, and Xavier Woods from the New Day.
